Andrew Steinhoff CAPS #2

National history is deeply entwined in the American culture. It taught at any educational institute, and we as Americans take great pride in our history. This history has formed the country and people that we are today, and will continue to play a role in the choices we make as a whole. National history is a facet of pride. Most citizens of the United States of America take pride in where they are from, and love their country.

A prime example of the way national history impacts us would be the terrorist attacks on September 11th. This is still a relatively fresh topic in our nations history, and it will be a day that will never be forgotten. The events that took place on that fateful day have brought the nation closer together, and a heightened sense of national pride. We as Americans have faced the worst of times, and the best of times, but we still stand united.

The United States is not the only country to have a rich history, filled with triumphs and tribulations. We are a young nation compared to the rest of the world. It would be really interesting to delve into the national history of a country like Spain. They are one of the oldest countries on Earth, and have the history to match it. National history gives us a sense of who we are, and what we are supposed to be.

  1. I like that you connected 9/11 with an overall discussion of national identity. In terms of the CAPs posts, when you define the concept make sure you cite the text since that's where the concept is coming from. Also it is important that you expand your example to really show us the concept. Photos and videos will help do this.
